In additon to the dictionary, the site also provides the top 20 internet acronyms every parent needs to know, top 20 tech terms that are now common expressions, and top 20 newbie terms eveyone needs to know.

If you love movies, you will appreciate The Movie Review Query Engine which is the largest online database for movie reviews.

I know that when I want to go see a particular movie but I want to know more about it, I like to read a few reviews first. It's true that you can use a well known search engine like Google to find a review but it would take time to find several reviews whereas it's all easily accessible with the Movie Review Query Engine.

eatwell is the Food Standards Agency's consumer advice and information site.

There is a lot on the site such as advice for a healthy diet, specific information geared to different ages and stages, health issues, keeping food safe, and a clear explanation about food labels.

The site also provides handy calculators: the Body Mass Index (BMI) Calculator and a calorie calculator.

Netmums is one of my favourite sites on the web for parents and others involved in the care of children.

The site offers lots of practical tips and advice - for places to go, things to do, parties, recipes, education, healthcare - as well as a friendly forum called "The Netmums Coffee House" where members can chat to other netmums from around the country or local boards for when you want to connect with people locally.

Netmums is a members only site but membership is free.

PetEducation.com is a fantastic resource for pet owners or anyone wanting to learn more about pet care. The comprehensive site offers expert advice and information about all types of pets.

The (American) site is owned & operated by two practicing veterinarians - Dr. Race Foster and Dr. Marty Smith - who "established and fund the largest and most comprehensive pet information web site on the Internet. Their PetEducation.com web site contains more than 2,800 in-depth articles written by the Drs. Foster & Smith veterinary staff."
